Former Palantir executives have officially launched Dream, a new artificial intelligence startup designed to construct advanced world models specifically for the building and construction sectors. The venture has secured $17 million in funding led by prominent venture capital firm a16z.

Unlike general-purpose language models trained primarily on conversational text, Dream is engineered around real-world physics and established construction standards. The company’s proprietary AI system draws its foundational knowledge from an extensive dataset comprising more than 100 million square feet of building data, which was meticulously compiled from municipal permit archives across the United States.

The founding team aims to bridge the gap between abstract AI capabilities and physical infrastructure development. By grounding its models in structural regulations and actual spatial mechanics, Dream seeks to streamline planning, compliance, and execution workflows for engineering and architecture firms navigating complex regulatory environments.
