Package delivery giant UPS is scaling up its technological infrastructure to provide enhanced shipment tracking and operational oversight. According to CEO Carol Tomé, the carrier anticipates that approximately 6 million packages per day will leverage radio-frequency identification (RFID) labeling originating directly from customer facilities by the year 2027.

The strategic expansion is designed to significantly improve end-to-end shipper visibility across the supply chain. By embedding RFID technology at the point of origin, UPS aims to streamline tracking processes, reduce bottlenecks, and provide real-time location data for high-volume commercial shippers navigating complex logistics networks.
