A recent report from Dynatrace has highlighted a major operational blind spot for enterprise technology teams. According to the State of SRE and Platform Engineering 2026 report, which surveyed 919 IT leaders globally, 97% of site reliability engineering (SRE) teams currently deploy observability tools across their operations.
However, the research suggests that this near-universal adoption creates a false sense of security. Beneath high utilization rates lie deep integration gaps that are being exposed at scale by the rapid deployment of complex artificial intelligence workloads.
The Growing Complexity of AI Infrastructure
As organizations race to embed AI capabilities into production environments, traditional monitoring frameworks are struggling to keep pace. The dynamic nature of large language models and distributed machine learning pipelines introduces failure modes and performance bottlenecks that standard metrics, logs, and traces often fail to capture effectively.
The findings indicate that platform engineering and SRE teams must evolve their telemetry strategies beyond conventional application monitoring to maintain system reliability, security, and performance in the era of automated enterprise software.
